Niagara College 2008 – 2010
Diploma, Computer Programming
Niagara College introduced me to some of the most amazing people I have met. My teachers were enthusiastic about their topics and happy to discuss things beyond the scope of their courses. I was always encouraged to go above and beyond what was expected, and my teachers even recommended me for a position for spring break that would transition into a summer job at Meridian Reservation Systems. They taught us that there is more to programming than code. Our courses on Project Management, Business Communications, and Graphics Design helped us to see all the facets of application development, from planning, designing, programming and presenting. We learned that it is not enough to develop a great application if we cannot present it and document it’s features. Niagara College gave me the jump start to my career and the skills to succeed.
Brock University 2006 – 2008
The Brock University Computer Science program was heavily geared towards programming for the gaming industry. There was a heavy focus on mathematics with 6 advanced math classes within the first 2 years. I learned a lot about theory, efficiency and some advanced functionality techniques during my time at Brock. More importantly, I learned more about myself and that my interests in programming were closer to web and application development than in game development. It was my desire to learn about databases, HTML, graphics and PHP that lead me to leave Brock University in favour of the broader education of Niagara College.
